Looking for homework or extra practice for your student to do at home?
1. Reflex math- students can only get 1 "green light" per day so if he/she had Math Lab today (Mrs. Barnes' class) skip this activity.
2. Khan Academy math- students have assignments to complete for a grade in class. If they are behind they can finish up at home.
1. Accelerated Reader- students should read at least 10 minutes every night. It is their responsibility to speak up and tell the teacher that they are ready for a quiz to get points.
2. Practice sight word reading. Use the link to find words that all middle schoolers should be able to read. Click here for Fry sight words.
On Tuesday 9/10/19 all students will receive an ID badge that is part of dress code & must be worn daily.
Consequences for missing badges
Violation 1 = warning
Violation 2 - silent lunch
Violation 3 - team detention
Violation 4 - school detention
Violation 5 - Saturday school detention

Here's what you can do at home
AR is a reading challenge/contest. It is also an assignment that counts as a test grade. Students & teachers set a goal and keep reading until they've met their goal. Each book is worth certain points so to meet their goal a student might have to read several books. They have silent reading time in class daily but are expected to read every night at home also. When they finish a book they take a quiz on the computer and get points. Prizes for meeting goals!
We've taken a lot of time to set up binders & agendas so that nothing gets lost or forgotten. At home you can double check to make sure papers are in the correct colored folder and check the agenda to see if there is homework.
Here's a quick reminder what goes into each folder:
2 blue- language arts & writing
2 green- math & math lab
I will text you occasionally with important news and reminders regarding homework, field trips, etc.

Grades & Attendance
Students and parents can check grades, attendance, tardies and missing work from their smart phone or computer. Don't wait; stay informed. Reach out to a teacher if you have questions or concerns.
Attendance is important in 6th grade
We all have aches and pains from time to time, but try to come to school anyway. Just let your teachers know that you're feeling down and they will understand. Make those doctor appointements for AFTER school so you dont have to make up work!
